Overview

Subjects Master turns study time into game time. Teachers and parents build custom, standards-aligned study guides, students play them as games across Civics, Economics, English, Foreign Language, History, Math and Science, and teachers see performance in real time. The founder came to CodesClue with a live platform that needed to be faster and more reliable, and a single founder's budget.

The platform serves three kinds of customer: individual teachers and homeschool families, small schools and homeschool networks, and schools that roll it out across whole classrooms and campuses. Each has its own subscription plan, from Basic to Professional, and each needs the site, the games and the teacher portal to feel quick.

We did not start with a rebuild. We started with the product as it was, fixed what was slowing it down, then kept going: finding and fixing other issues, improving the experience for teachers and students, and shipping the changes the founder asked for.

Our approach

Take over, fix what hurts first, then improve continuously, within a founder's budget.

Speed first
Site speed and performance were the immediate priority, so that is where the work began.
Audit what the browser sees
We traced how the teacher portal and the admin CMS load their data, ranked every issue by severity and gave each fix its own estimate.
Understand the product
We learned how teachers, students and schools use the games before proposing changes, and bring ideas as well as fixes.
Budget-aware delivery
Work is planned and sized so a single founder can move the product forward without surprises.

Timed games decide scores, so any change to timing has to be exact and the same in every subject.

Rapid Fire, retuned
The answer time in every Rapid Fire game doubled from 15 to 30 seconds, with a full-points window before the score starts to fall, in all six subjects.

Schools on different subscription plans must always see the right upgrade options.

Reliable subscription upgrades
The upgrade screen now works out each school's plan correctly, so every school sees the plans it can move to.
